From Jungle Book’s villainous Shere Khan to Winnie the Pooh’s friendly Tigger, for as long as we have known tigers, we have crafted tales to capture our fascination with this forest icon.
Now let our actions immortalize tigers, not just our stories.
Woodland Park Zoo and Panthera work together with on-the-ground partners in Malaysia to conserve tigers and their forests. Every zoo visit makes this work possible.
“When I was in Rajastan, India, I was able to visit Ranthambore National Park, and I was thrilled to be able to see a tiger in the wild. He was hidden in the bush and we were barely able to see him. So, when I was asked to paint a tiger for the Woodland Park Zoo, I felt honored and recalled my experience of seeing that tiger in India.
Hidden within the abstract signature Steve Jensen patterns and stripes are 12 photo copied images of tigers from antique books and literature—see if you can find all 12 of them.”
